We like to leave you to enjoy the peace and quiet while you are here but if you need us for anything during your stay or have any problems and you want to speak to us in person, please ring the bell at the front door to contact us. If there is no response, use the phone provided by the front door. Alternatively you can text either 0408003691 or 0408986944 to contact us.
Here at Harpers on the Beach, we enjoy clean and unpolluted rainwater from our tanks. We have provided a bottle of filtered water in your fridge for drinking. Please let us know if you need any more.
Also please be aware when you shower that water is precious and we have a limited supply.
The key provided locks the main door. The sliding door does not have a key for the outside but can be locked when you are inside the studio. Please keep the screen door closed when you have the sliding door open as there may be a few mosquitos in the summer evenings. If you go out at night, it’s a good idea to leave the outside light on as it’s very dark when you come back late!
If the gate is closed, you can open it using the grey token on your keyring. Pass this in front of the keypad on the gatepost to open the gate. If the gate is closed, please close it behind you once you drive out. If it is already open, it’s fine to leave it open.
Here at Harpers, we have an environmentally friendly septic system and the toilet so please do not flush anything man-made except toilet paper down the toilet, please use the bins provided. Flushing anything else will cause extensive damage to the system. It is normal for there to be a noise from the unit when you run water or flush the toilet. (The Studio also has a macerator fitter so it is perfectly normal for it to make a noise when running water down the drain or flushing the toilet)
The air conditioner is operated via the remote control on the wall
Free wi-fi is available if you are travelling with your own laptop or mobile device. To access this:

In some weather conditions (windy weather mostly) the wifi signal may not be very strong or interrupted. The wifi in the studio & cottage is operating via a booster. Occasionally (usually after a power cut), the booster may need to re-connect with the modem. Let us know if the wifi stops working and we can do this.
If you would like your room serviced, please let us know and we can do this at a convenient time for you. If you need any supplies replenishing (tea, coffee, toiletries, toilet roll etc) please let us know. (At the front door or text or phone if you prefer)
Breakfast may or may not be included in your rate (depending on which you chose when you booked) but a full cooked breakfast is available to be served in your room between 8am & 9am. Produce is sourced from all the best Tasmanian producers and often will be either organic home grown from our own gardens or locally provided by nearby farmers. Jams are home made with local fruit and coffee is by Villino, our local roaster in Hobart.
If it isn’t included in your rate and you would like to have breakfast please let us know the previous evening. The cost is $20 per person.
Dinner can be served daily (except Monday) by prior arrangement. We serve a set 2 course menu at 7pm daily in your room. The cost of this is $40 per person. Just let us know the previous evening if you would like dinner the next day.
The menu changes daily to reflect seasonal changes and guest requirements. The fish is locally caught and the meats are hormone free and grass fed. Vegetables and fruits are locally sourced or organic home grown where possible. We can also cater for any specific dietary requirements, just let us know when you book dinner.
We also have a range of wine, beer & soft drinks available for sale with dinner. Our wine list is available on our website. Please let us know if you would like to buy some wine or beer.
Drinks and snacks
There is a supply of tea and coffee in your studio which is free of charge. There is also a small mini-bar with wine, beer and some snacks. There is a price list on the wall showing the item prices. Let us know on checkout if you purchased any of the items.
If you are peckish, we can offer a cheese platter ($12) or antipasto platter ($18) in your room. Please let us know if you’d like to order these.

Here is a list of the peninsula restaurants. Please let us know if you need us to make any bookings for you during your stay. We highly recommend booking ahead as opening times and nights can vary throughout the season and summer months can get very busy.
Beach towels have been provided in the wardrobe. Please do not take the white bathroom towels to the beach.
There is an iPod dock next to the TV. You can connect to this via Bluetooth.

For the enjoyment of all our guests, Harpers on the Beach is a completely non-smoking property, inside and out. This means that smoking is not permitted on the decks or in the garden. Please use the beach if you wish to smoke.
Books, Magazines and Games
There is a range of books, magazines, DVDs in the lounge.
Checkout is 10am.
Nubeena is about 4km from here and has a supermarket, bakery and pharmacy as well as medical facilities and the closest ATM is in the supermarket there. The supermarket opens at 6.30am and closes at 6pm but this may be later in the summer months.
Petrol on the peninsula is available at the Port Arthur General Store or in Premaydena at the General Store on the main road,
The nearest laundrette is in Port Arthur and is open from 8am until early evening. It takes $1 coins ($4 a load)
